Robben Island
The Robben Island Prison is a site of historical importance and it is where South Africa’s former President Nelson Mandela spent 27 years along with hundreds of other political detainees during the time of Apartheid. There are various tours that run throughout the day. Ferries depart from V&A Waterfront and the tour takes 3 ½ hours including the ferry trip, tour of the historical sites around the island and back to the V&A Waterfront.
Table Mountain
The flat-topped Table Mountain, Cape Town’s most recognizable landmark, provides incredible views, rich biodiversity and challenging recreational opportunities for hikers, rock climbers, mountain cyclists and cavers. It is often covered by clouds, called “the table cloth.” The top can also be reached by cable car up to a nearly 3,600-foot (1,089 m) vantage point. The 5-minute ascent includes breath taking 360-degree views. Go round trip the aerial way or take a more adventuresome way down.
